A new kind of resolution

January is usually the time that people reflect on the year that was and start to compose resolutions for the year ahead. Goals are decided upon, intentions are set and resolutions are made. Well this year I'm asking you think about another type of resolution - conflict resolution. Whether we like it or not anyone who has the ability to converse is able to be involved in conflict and in our time-limited society, conflict seems to have become the shortest way between two posts to try and get our point across.

So this year, as you draw up your resolutions for 2012, I'm suggesting that you take time to think about what improvements could be made to your everyday communications. Could you perhaps learn how to fight fairly? Maybe you'd like to be able to take more of a stand in your everyday negotiations or be the calming intermediary in your family disputes. Have a think about what you could do to improve the way you communicate in your everyday life. You may just find that the number of conflicts or heated conversations you are involved in reduces - and in my opinion, that can only be a good thing!
